Aligning Objects in Unreal Engine
Breakthrough!
I have been wondering for weeks how to align objects in UE, but was too busy learning other elements to find out how to do it. But at last I've gone back to my checklist spreadsheet and at the top was "Find out how to align objects".
A quick Google search and a YouTube video later, and I can now align objects properly with each other.
How to align objects in Unreal Engine (5.4)
1) Go into Modeling Mode (from the top left-ish dropdown)
2) Select 'XForm' (transform) from the icons down the left (on the screen it's in blue)
3) Click on two or more objects that you want to align with each other.
4) Click on 'Align' (underneath the 'Modeling Mode' dropdown)
5) Check which way you're oriented by looking at the little XYZ diagram near the bottom left of the image. That should help you understand what the computer thinks is front/back/left/right/up/down.
6) Use the different options to align your objects with each other. For example, if you choose 'Align To: Last Selected', that will make sure that the last object you selected will stay where it is, and the first object you clicked will then move to align with the other object. If you tick the 'Align Y' box and choose 'Box Position: Right', then that should align the rightmost edges of the selected objects with each other.
